WHO IS JAY SHETTY?
Jay Shetty is a former monk who tries to motivate people by the teachings of the three years his monk life which he spend in ashram in India. He often says for getting the peace of mind we need not have to become monk. In his well known podcast 'ON PURPOSE' where he tries to saturates life based on' what is the purpose of the life' gifted by god.

In this book he mainly explains how our mind works. He explain it by talking it reference of monkey mind and monk mind. The monkey mind is one which wander from one situation to another. For example we have A,B,C work to do. So initially we are working on work A but in between we start thinking of work B and we start working on work B an again in between we encounter work C and we start thinking of work C but the truth is that unless we complete work A there is no point of proceeding for work B and work C.
Now the monk mind is one which focuses on the present situation. It tries to complete the first work and then heads towards another. So focus is the key role to have a monk mind.
In this book various categories of thinking is covered like fear which he a alarming flag which makes us remember we are in some bad situation. He explains what is this warning flag called fear and to deal with it. It this book we can find what is negativity how to deal with it, what is your intension in life and where it will lead us. Identity-who you are. You can get all he question you have buried within you. The mind always tricks us to follow a comfortable life and the path to follow which everyone is following so that we do not experience pain but at the end we may not get the expected result. our mind is often carried away by what other will think of us. We often do maximum of our work to impress other not to make ourselves happy. We are so much depended on what others thinks that our emotion of being happy or sad depends on others as if some one is controlling our life indirectly. Like we feel happy when out boss is happy and talks good about the work we did and if the same boss yells it makes you fell sad and depressed.
Mind can be calmed down by practicing meditation. We can practice visual meditation or by chanting mantra while meditating or we can practice breathing exercise of breathing in and out when ever we are stressed out. In his book we can find various ways of meditating.
